Rescue animals come into our care directly from pounds, from other rescue organisations when additional veterinary treatment is required, surrendered by owners, or abandoned. We provide housing, nutrition, preventative health care, acute health care, training, enrichment, socialisation and love until we can find each of them an appropriate home.
Meet our rescue animals
Rescue Dogs
Rosie is a very pretty 2–3 year old Bull Arab X (with something smaller mixed in), making her a lovely medium-sized girl.
Riley is a beautiful, medium-sized one-year-old girl with the most stunning eyes and an even more beautiful nature to match.
Rory is a handsome young boy with a big personality and an even bigger heart. Outgoing and confident, he approaches life with enthusiasm and a cheeky sparkle that makes him impossible not to love.
Tansy is a bright, affectionate little sweetheart with a gentle nature and a joyful spark. At just 5 months old, this Border Collie x Jack Russell/Pug girl is the perfect blend of sweetness and smarts.
Ollie is the definition of joy in motion — a happy, energetic, ball‑obsessed legend who could play fetch until the sun goes down. He’s incredibly smart, responsive, and well-trained, knowing multiple commands and thriving when his brain is kept busy.
Ruby is our lovable little wild child—full of spark, mischief, and endless charm. With her gorgeous chocolate and white coat, big expressive ears, and eyes that could melt anyone into a puddle, she’s impossible to resist.
Maggie is a beautiful, sweet-natured 2-year-old Kelpie X with a heart of pure gold. She’s happy, affectionate, clever, willing, obedient, and wonderfully easy-going.
Dex is the full package: calm, clever, affectionate, and playful. This 5-year-old Kelpie is a true gentleman with a gentle soul and a cheeky streak.
Ricky is an adorable senior boy with a sad past but the happiest face you’ll ever see. At 7.5 years old, he radiates pure joy and lights up every room with his friendly, outgoing, and affectionate nature.
Yip and Yap are a deeply bonded pair—bright, adventurous Yip and gentle, tender-hearted Yap—who have spent their lives side by side. Together they bring joy, loyalty, and a special kind of love that’s as heartwarming as their friendship.
Rescue Cats
Daniel is a darling — regal in appearance and quietly commanding in presence. He isn’t bossy, but he has a natural way of drawing attention and admiration.
Bennie is the life of the party! He bursts into play with confidence, showing off his handsome features and joyful energy.
Rocket Man isn’t one for dramatic take‑offs — he prefers a slow, steady warm‑up. But once he’s comfortable, he’s right in the middle of the action, joining the games with his own gentle flair.
Captain Fantastic begins every moment with quiet observation, taking in the world with thoughtful, soulful eyes.
Tiny Dancer is the smallest, the boldest, and the only girl in her litter — and she knows exactly how to shine. First to explore, first to play, first to climb into your arms, she thrives on human interaction and rewards you with endless affection.
Tilly is a young mum with a heart full of love. She dishes out affectionate head‑butts like hot cakes and is always ready with a rub against your leg and deep, satisfied purrs.
Bessie is a tiny adventurer with a big imagination. She invents her own games — balancing on narrow ledges, rope climbing, and springing out of hide‑and‑seek spots with theatrical flair.
Jersey Girl is a delightful blend of coy charm and playful confidence. She loves to hide as though she’s timid, only to pounce out with a joyful leap in her own unique style.
Nellie is sweetness wrapped in kitten fluff. Her playful nature makes it easy for her to capture your heart — she’s always ready to tackle any toy in sight, and she loves to gently pat you with her paw.
Angus is an irresistible mix of enthusiasm, sweetness, and pure kitten joy. He’s eager to please and will happily join in any game you’re willing to play - especially tail tag with his siblings!
Mr Puss is the definition of a gentle soul. With his long, luxurious tabby coat and those stunning, expressive eyes, he’s the kind of cat who quietly steals your heart without even trying.
Timmy is a truly beautiful soul - gentle, affectionate, and wonderfully people‑oriented. This handsome Russian Blue boy loves nothing more than curling up in your lap for pats or a long, soothing brushing session.
Saxon is the thoughtful one of the litter. While his sisters dive headfirst into play, Saxon prefers to observe before joining in. He’s gentle, sweet, and a little reserved.
Ian is a bold, affectionate boy who lives for human connection. He’s not aloof—he’s present, loving, and always ready for a cuddle. Volunteers describe him as gentle, handsome, and emotionally devoted.
The Sweet Pea Rescue Alumni

Support our rescue program
Sweet Pea Animal Rescue Ltd is a registered charity. With your support we can help improve the lives of abandoned and unwanted animals and educate our communities about responsible pet ownership and the welfare of those animals.
The Adoption Process:
Rescue animals come into our care directly from pounds, from other rescue organisations when additional veterinary treatment is required, surrendered by owners, or abandoned. We provide housing, nutrition, preventative health care, acute health care, training, enrichment, socialisation and love until we can find each of them an appropriate home.
1. Care & Treatment
Before being adopted each of our rescue animals will be: desexed, microchipped, vaccinated, and treated for fleas, ticks & intestinal worms.
They will also have received a full health check. Our mature rescues have blood screening carried out and a heartworm test performed.
2. Adoption Questionnaire
All interested adopters must complete an Adoption Questionnaire, prior to meeting the rescue animal they are interested in.
This assists us in ensuring that we have found the most suitable forever home for each of our rescue animals.
3. Meet & Greet
Following the adoption questionnaire, we arrange a meet and greet with all the family members and any other pets living in the household. This ensures everyone gets to play and gets along.
4. Trial Period
If all goes well, the adoption is completed, and a two week trial period begins. It is rare that any adoptees are returned within the trial period, but this allows both parties time to ensure that the right decision has been made.
